The City of Grand Junction held its regular monthly Board of Alderman and Mayor meeting on November 2, 2026, but it was not just a regular meeting. It was the last time Mayor Curtis Lane would preside as he prepares to retire from the position on Monday, November 30, 2026. Curtis Lane has served the City of Grand Junction for 26 years and the evening was marked by mutual gratitude and appreciation between him and the community.

Mayor Curtis Lane is the longest serving Mayor in Hardeman County. Not only was he elected five terms, Mayor Lane also served two years as an alderman and four years as vice-mayor for Grand Junction.

In a proclamation presented to him by Hardeman County Mayor Todd Pulse, it was noted, Mayor Lane has “presided over 240 meetings, excluding special-called meetings demonstrating his longstanding commitment to municipal service. . .the citizens of Grand Junction and a dedication to serving the community he represents . . . We extend our sincere appreciation for his years of leadership, commitment, and contributions to the City of Grand Junction and Hardeman County.“

Before closing out his last meeting as mayor, Lane addressed all in attendance expressing his gratitude and appreciation. It was apparent he will miss serving Grand Junction as mayor, but also recognized it was time for him to move on.

“Well, this ends it for me y’all. After 26 1/2 years, I think it is long enough . . .,” said Lane, who revealed his sense of humor noting the number of people in attendance at the meeting. “I didn’t realize that half the town was going to be here so glad to see me gone.”

Lane continued as he shared his appreciation for the community overall. He also expressed appreciation for local law enforcement, mayors across the county, and Tennessee State Representative Johnny Shaw for their response during the tornado that devastated Grand Junction in April 2025.

After the meeting, it was time to relax and enjoy cake, punch, and good conversation.
