Kilgore Flares Company, LLC based in Toone, Tennessee notified the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s Dislocated Worker Unit on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, of its plan to reduce its workforce by 127 employees. The last day of work for those affected employees at the company, which makes products for military defense, is expected to be Saturday, October 31, 2026. Kilgore, acquired by Chemring Group PLC in 2001, is a large employer of Hardeman County residents and will affect a big part of the community.
“This will have a devastating impact on many families and businesses in an already impoverished area,” said Toone Mayor Jackie Kelley.
At this time, the WARN notice is just about the reduction in its workforce. No further details were shared regarding whether this is the start of phasing out the Toone location for permanent closure.
