Whiteville CoreCivic made a special donation of 50 beautiful, crocheted scarves with matching hats to the Alice and Carl Kirkland Cancer Center in Jackson. The hats were made by the Crochet Class, a behavior modification program, taught by instructional aide Betty Herron.
“We thank CoreCivic Whiteville for their kindness and their generosity. This is something that is very needed for our cancer patients, especially during the winter. A lot of cancer patients lose their hair and that warmth always helps them,” said Elizabeth Vickery, Kirkland Cancer Center Marketing and Community Outreach Manager. “These handmade gifts provide not only warmth, but also a special reminder to our patients that they are surrounded by a community that cares.
Groups, and individuals, often make donations to the Kirkland Cancer Center of handknitted and crocheted items, flowers, water, and individual snacks. If you would like to donate items to the Center for its patients, call (731) 541-1700 to learn more about how you can help.
