Tennessee House of Representatives District 80 Candidate Andrea Bond Johnson visited Hardeman County in the Town of Whiteville on Saturday, September 12, 2026, for a Meet & Greet. The event was hosted by the Hardeman County Democratic Party with Bond Johnson sharing her platform of “Together We Can Build a Stronger Tomorrow.”

Hardeman Countians were able to speak openly with Bond Johnson to learn more about her campaign, why she chose to run, and issues voters have shared while she has been on the campaign trail.

“Affordability is an issue. Affordable housing is an issue especially in Haywood County where everyone was so excited about Blue Oval City coming and the rate began to double and so now, Blue Oval City did not come, Ford did not come, and people are still having to struggle to buy their prescriptions. Gas is extremely high now,” said Bond Johnson, who lives in Brownsville. “So, affordability, I would say would probably be the most important issue right now. I would love to be able to work with the different housing agencies and see how we can help individuals and families that are being faced with that issue right now.”

Bond Johnson is a small business owner of an insurance company and a licensed mortician. She comes in contact with a very diverse group of people daily.

“I hear concerns often and I think it has helped me to be a little more compassionate and sympathetic about what people in the community have to deal with. Because of that, I think it has given me a special sense of knowing I have to be able to make relationships in order to get help that’s needed in the community,” said Bond Johnson. “Being in business, sometimes it’s almost like you think you’re in politics because you want support for your business, but relationships are so important and I have been able to do that. I think that’s a skill that is very important for any leader. I would love to talk, listen and try to come up with solutions that can benefit all people, so that our communities can thrive”

“I just want the voters in district 80 to know I want to represent all people. The three most important words in the Constitution are we the people!” ~ Bond Johnson

She also shared that people often feel left out, and Bond Johnson wants to assure them that she is here to represent everyone and to advocate for the needs of all people in the community.

Bond Johnson shared a conversation she had with another politician.

“They asked me, ‘Andrea, you know at your age, you’re a business owner. Your children are grown. You have healthcare. Why are you doing this?’,” said Bond Johnson. “I said, because it is not about me! It’s about all of those who don’t have it. That is why I am in this race and that’s why I want to represent the people here in district 80!”

Bond Johnson is seeking the Tennessee House of Representatives District 80 seat, which covers parts of Hardeman County, Haywood County, and Madison County. Democrat Johnny Shaw currently holds the seat, which he has done since 2000. Julian McTizic is running for the position on the Republican ticket.
