The Hardeman County Schools held it monthly board meeting on Thursday, September 10, 2026. In attendance was Dr. Christy Smith, and school board members Kenny Atkins, Jennifer Aylor, Johnny Davis, Anthony Ford, Brad Polk, Gene Ross, Stacey Swift, and new members Keith Bollendorf and Quintessa Stewart.
After the Pledge of Allegiance, Dr. Smith welcomed new and returning board members, and thank all for their willingness to serve.

Jennifer Aylor nominated Kenny Atkins and Anthony Ford nominated Brad Polk. Vote resulted with Kenny Atkins being named board chairman.
Gene Ross nominated Johnny Davis for vice-chairman. Vote resulted with Johnny Davis being named vice-chairman.

Agreed to keep a $750 usage fee at Bolivar Central High School and not reduce it to $500.

Discussed the following resolutions:
2026 – 01: Gives school districts more flexibility regarding rehiring returning teachers.
2026 – 02: Flexibility in issuance of teaching permits for high need teaching positions.
2026 – 03: Supporting more state investment in the K12 network for infrastructure and cybersecurity, and student internet safety security.
2026 – 04: Continued support for investment in the Tennessee Hope Scholarship and state funded Dual Enrollment Grant.
2026 – 05: Asking for greater flexibility in the special education preschool grant program.
2026 – 06: Supporting full state funding of mandated special education preschool services.
All resolutions were approved.
