The West Tennessee Hardeman County District Association ushered in the New Year with a powerful night of worship, unity, and celebration during its New Year’s Eve Service held at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where Reverend Cory Bufford serves as pastor.

The service brought together pastors, congregations, and community members from across Hardeman County, reflecting the Association’s mission of collective engagement in missions, worship, and training. Comprised of multiple churches throughout the county, the Association continues to serve as a vital force for spiritual growth and community development.

Leadership for the fellowship is provided by Reverend William D. Young, Moderator of the West Tennessee Hardeman County District Association and pastor of Campbell Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, alongside Reverend Shon Beasley, vice moderator of the Association and pastor of Greater Springfield Baptist Church. Together, they guide the Association in fostering cooperation and shared ministry among member churches.

The evening’s keynote message was delivered by State Representative Pastor Johnny Shaw, of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church, who served as the speaker for the occasion. His message encouraged faithfulness, perseverance, and renewed commitment as attendees prepared to enter the New Year with hope and purpose.

In addition to worship and preaching, the service highlighted the Association’s ongoing commitment to education and empowerment through the presentation of scholarships. The Hardeman County Commission for Black History awarded a scholarship to Kabrilya Higgs, a student at Alabama A&M University, recognizing her academic achievement and promise.

The West Tennessee Hardeman County District Association also awarded scholarships to four outstanding students:

  • Victor Robinson III, student at Lane College
  • Miley Jones, student at Fisk University
  • Tamaya Turner, student at Austin Peay University

These awards underscored the Association’s dedication to investing in the next generation of leaders through educational support.

As the clock turned toward a new year, the New Year’s Eve Service stood as a testament to faith, fellowship, and forward vision—marking not only the close of one year, but the continued work of churches united in service to God and community throughout Hardeman County.
