There is no perfect time better than now to get a library card, especially since September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! Having a library card can take you on adventures anywhere domestically and abroad. That little library card opens your world to so many possibilities.
There are five libraries in Hardeman County: Bolivar-Hardeman County Library, Grand Junction Library, Lee Ola Roberts Library, Middleton Community Library, and the Saulsbury Library.
“Having a library card is an opportunity that is offered to everyone! It encourages lifelong learning and provides access to worlds we would never know without a library card,” said Dianne Callahan, Grand Junction Library Director.
“In children it broadens their imagination plus helps with extending their vocabulary. In adults it does the same but also helps to relieve stress,” said Glenda Doyle, Lee Ola Roberts Library Director.
A library card not only allows you to check out books and other resources in-person but also gives you access to online libraries like Tennessee R.E.A.D.S. and the Tennessee Electronic Library.
It is free to sign up for a library card in your county. Out-of-county options are available but may have an annual fee that applies.
“It only takes a few minutes to get a library card, but that little card can open the door to a lifetime of reading, learning and fun. If you do not have one, September is the perfect time to stop by the library and start your journey,” said Ms. Callahan. “The Grand Junction Library is open to the public. Simply stop by and provide your name, address, and phone number and open the door to a whole new world of opportunities and resources!”
Be sure to bring the items needed for signing up for a library card.
“An ID with a picture and if it doesn’t have your correct address, we just need a piece of mail showing the right address. Children need a parent with their ID,” said Ms. Doyle.
