Whiteville Police Department Promotes Rochard Weaver to Captain

Whiteville Police Officer Rochard Weaver received the distinguished honor of being promoted to captain on Monday, September 14, 2026, during the Town of Whiteville board of alderman meeting. It was with great pleasure to the newly appointed Whiteville Chief of Police, Desmond Williams, to make the official announcement. The men have worked together in the department for the past few years.”

“Today, it is my honor as chief of police to officially announce the promotion of my corporal, Rochard Weaver, to the rank of captain. Although today makes the rank official, for approximately the last two years, Rochard has already been leading in the capacity of lieutenant and a captain,” said Chief William, who noted qualities that make Captain Weaver stand out. “What stands out most is his integrity and character. He is capable of doing all the duties I need going forward.”

Captain Weaver has been in law enforcement for almost five years, all of which have been with the Whiteville Police Department.

“What I love most about my job is having the opportunity to be one of the many good police officers who truly cares about the communities they serve. I want to give my own kids a positive role model to look up to and hopefully be that same type of positive influence for other young people in our community,” said Captain Weaver. “Through the way I carry myself and serve, I also hope I can help shed a positive light on law enforcement and show the public that there are officers who genuinely care about the people and communities we are entrusted to serve.”
