The City of Middleton needs help from the community to bring an end to the theft and vandalism that has occurred at the City Park over the last few years. According to a Facebook post in a local community group, these instances have occurred multiple times. The most recent activity involved theft of a bicycle pump and automatic faucets in the bathroom, and an attempt was made to steal a bike rack.
The Middleton City Park underwent renovations in August 2022 with the BlueCross Healthy Place grant, which brought new equipment and added a playground, fitness station, and pavilion and picnic tables to the area. This year, the City Park expanded with the development with a walking trail.
Cameras have been installed at the City Park and film is currently being reviewed by the City with the hope of discovering the person or persons behind these crimes.
“Please help us by observing what is happening at the park if you are there and let us know if you suspect anything,” said City of Middleton Alderman Ann Baxter.
For now, the City Park and bathrooms remain open without hours limitations to accommodate the many people who use the park every day. If the problems at the park continue, a curfew may be established and the bathrooms closed daily at a noted time.
