Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett made a special stop in Hardeman County on Thursday, October 22, 2026, as part of his tour across the state to show his appreciation to poll workers for helping run the election. He visited with the poll workers covering early voting, Administrator of Elections Amber Moore, Deputy Bailee Tucker, and a few people who arrived to early vote.
“Frankly, we can have great election laws. We can have great election administrators like Amber Moore, but if we don’t have poll workers who are willing to come work the polls, then we can’t run election,” said Secretary Hargett.
Hargett also reminded people that early voting is happening and encouraged taking advantage of the opportunity.
“Sure, you can vote on Election Day, on November 3, if you want to, but you never know what could happen. Car batteries die, kids get sick, work obligations come up, and so it’s a great opportunity to maybe pick a time and a day that is more convenient for you to come and cast your vote,” said Hargett. “We are also reminding people to be prepared voters. We’ve got three constitutional amendments on the ballot. If you have not read those before you get to the polls, you’ll probably spend a good five to 10 minutes reading those amendments, so take a minute and be prepared.”

Hardeman is the first of five counties Secretary Hargett will visit today. He visited nine West Tennessee counties on Monday, October 19, 2026. Last week, he visited 19 counties in East Tennessee, Thursday through Saturday. Hargett started the tour in Middle Tennessee during the early voting period in July, visiting all 41 counties.
“I hope by election day, we would have visited all 95 counties during this election cycle,” said Secretary Hargett.
The voting machines were tested in September and prepared for Election Day.
Early voting is October 14 – 29, 2029. The hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Hardeman County Election Commission { 227 Lucy Black Road, Bolivar, 38008 }.
