If you have ever wondered about the inner workings of the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC), the Citizens Correctional Academy is an open opportunity to resolve that curiosity. The Citizens Correctional Academy is a six-week program created to give Tennesseans an extensive look at the Tennessee Department of Correction, which is the state’s largest law enforcement agency. Applications for the next program in Nashville are now open.
Attendees are every day citizens to people who have an interest in law enforcement. After attending the program, they will have a comprehensive understanding of the experiences of what more than 5,000 correctional professionals have everyday.
During the six-week program, students will learn about several aspects of the TDOC:
Session 1 (October 8): Prison Operations
Session 2 (October 15): Rehabilitative Services
Session 3 (October 22): Clinical Services
Session 4 (October 29): Community Supervision/Reentry Simulation
Session 5 (November 5): OIC/CIU
Session 6 (November 12): Graduation Day
Sessions will be held in Nashville at several facility locations from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Attendees must be 18 years or older, have no criminal history, and able to attend all six sessions.
