The City of Grand Junction and the Town of Hickory Valley are preparing for possible leadership changes when citizens head to the polls on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Both have mayor and alderman races currently being run.
Who’s Running in Grand Junction?
On the ballot in November, Grand Junction residents will vote for a new mayor and three aldermen. After serving the city for 20 years, Mayor Curtis Lane decided not to run again for the office. Running for Grand Junction Mayor are Isiah Hunt and Cheryl Smith.
There are three alderman positions with two incumbents, Nichole Luellen and Steve Luellen, seeking reelection, and one open aldermen position with no one running.
Who’s Running in Hickory Valley?
On the ballot in Hickory Valley, residents will vote for the mayor and five aldermen. Richard “Ricky” Ayers is running unopposed for mayor, a position he has held since 2013. Incumbents, Bobby Hensley, Richard Lake, Jane Powell, and Noel Toney are running for alderman.
Before his passing on Friday, July 10, 2026, Duane Lax was still listed by the Hardeman County Election Commission as an alderman for the Town. His son, Colton Lax, is running in November for the fifth aldermen position.
How to Become a Certified Write-In?
Outside of the previously mentioned qualified candidates for the positions they are seeking, anyone who wishes to become a certified write-in may complete a Certificate of Write-In Candidacy form at the Hardeman County Election Commission office { 227 Lucy Blak Road, Bolivar, 38008 } by Monday, September 14, 2026, at 12 p.m.
